Difference Between JIS and ANSI/ASME Ball Valves

1. Standard & Unit System

JIS stands for Japanese Industrial Standards. It uses metric units, mainly referring to JIS B2071 and JIS B2220. Its pressure classes are 10K, 20K, 30K and 40K, which are widely used for Japanese local industry and marine projects.

ANSI/ASME is the American standard system. It applies imperial units and follows ASME B16.5 and ASME B16.34. Its pressure classes are Class 150, 300 and 600, popular for European and American pipeline projects.Pressure grades are Class 150, 300, 600, widely used in American and European industrial systems.

2. Flange & Dimension Difference

JIS ball valves feature exclusive metric flange sizes, fewer bolt holes and smaller bolt hole diameters. The flange face structure is unique. ANSI/ASME flanges apply unified imperial dimensional standards for global Western piping projects.
