Is this type of gate valve suitable for throttling or pressure adjustment work?

Absolutely not. These gate valves are designed purely for on-off isolation. Partially opening the valve will lead to severe erosion of the hard-alloy wedge sealing surface by fast-flowing medium, resulting in permanent leakage. Special regulating valves are required for pressure reduction and flow control.

In high-pressure pipeline service, what advantages make high-pressure gate valves a better choice compared with ball valves and butterfly valves?

First, their full straight through bore brings nearly zero flow resistance; ball valves have trapped cavities and butterfly valves have internal disc obstructions that create extra pressure loss.

Second, the all-metal hard seal wedge structure can bear ultra-high Class 2500 pressure and high temperature, while soft-sealed ball and butterfly valves will fail under extreme thermal and pressure loads.

Third, thick heavy-wall bodies and optional welded bonnets eliminate leakage risks, which floating ball and wafer butterfly valves cannot resolve for critical high-pressure flammable medium pipelines.

Fourth, they support API 6D fire-safe certification, a mandatory safety standard that most butterfly valves cannot meet.
